The Hamlet Project

The Hamlet Project was a semester-long project from Chris' Principles of Theatre Design undergrad course, taught by Sarah Hamilton at Carroll University in the spring of 2013. The project centered around analyzing William Shakespeare's Hamlet, creating a new concept for the play, and creating designs for lights, sound, costumes, and set for an imagined production. Chris' design reset the play in a near-abandoned mental ward and focused on the characters as patients and doctors exploring their sanity. Below you will find the complete research, concepts, designs, and analyses for the project as envisioned and developed by Chris Meissner.
